Little stories in Canada.. My favorite moments..
My first favorite photo taken in Canada, September 2016. I was walking alone by Lake Louise and taking in the scenery. With so many people passing by, I bowed my head as I always did. However within a few steps I realized strangers cheerfully greet each other when they meet. At that moment I worked this out in my mind: "You're going to work as a sales person, you need to practice eye contact." It was awkward at first, but I becomes more natural by each day...
Our visit to the bubble lake, Abraham Lake was last February, it was my first time driving on ice. February was known to be a cold winter month, and I believe the 5 of us to be lucky when the sun was warm enough to bring the temperature down to -10 Celsius that day. One thing that could not be seen in this photo is, the cracking sound of the ice makes every step you take. It echos through the mountains, and as much as I wanted to stay, the thought of sinking into ice water made us pursue to our next destination - Johnston Canyon.
Look at this little cute pea, it's my current screensaver. We caught this marmot eating on our way up to Fairview. It was a lovely day hiking with friends from different countries. I have knew them for some time but we didn't have time to hangout, so it was a great opportunity to know them better. The summer weather was great while we talked about the local food and our country's customs. These are the moments that made me look forward to do more hiking.
Trans Canada highway on winter. Beautiful isn't it? We were on our way to the zoo. At this time? Yes! I remember Cleo and I were so eager to see a real life muskox. Calgary is a 2 hours half drive from Lake Louise, yet I never complained about driving because of views like this. Unlike driving in cities, the scenic drives never fail to calm my mind. During winter times, we always start our trip being a little worried about the road conditions, but once you have your first sip of coffee (Tim Hortons yes) , things start to warm up and you know it's going to be another great day.
Another spectacular view beyond the the rockies, is the Horseshoe Canyon. I had to capture this with my action camera to get a wider view. There was something about this place that speaks to me. Perhaps it was the surprise it gave me when we discovered it. You would have missed this place by the highway if there was no Google. It was all flat land and suddenly a broad, hollow landscape just appeared before you. The moment was made special when we were the only visitors at this place, it was a calm and empowering moment for me to witness nature in a different form.
Yes it's the aurora. This photo was taken by my friend Ken on the very same night. It was 2 in the morning and a very chilly midnight. He was by the stables, while my roommate and I went out our apartment to witness the colors of the sky. I remember I was so excited then. While taking in the view, I noticed a group of people heading home from the pub, they were so drunk they didn't notice the beauty of the northern lights, perhaps it was a common occurrence for them but for me it was special, because people has always been saying how there is this light that could dance in the sky, and you may only see it by luck. I felt lucky indeed to be here to witness the aurora with my bare eyes.
